Rike Wootten


Rike has spent close to 30 years in Japan, virtually all of it in international finance. After starting with Merrill Lynch Tokyo, where he worked there for 11 years, he was hired to be COO of ING Baring Securities Japan, then appointed Branch Manager (CEO) the following year, a post which he held for four years prior to forming Pacific IR (the successor of Gotairiku Partners). In 1999, he became the first foreigner appointed to the board of governors of the Osaka Securities Exchange. He has also served as a governor of the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA) and vice chairman of its Tokyo District branch, and was a member of the executive board of the International Bankers Association among numerous other positions. Rike has been featured frequently in print and broadcast media, including NHK and Bloomberg, as well as the Nikkei, Nikkei Kinyu, Yomiuri, and Asahi newspapers and the Japan Times. Rike serves on the board of several companies in the Tokyo area.
